MareMag LIFE Kick-Off Meeting: The Circular economy for Magnesium Production

The Kick-off meeting of the MareMag LIFE project, led by the University of Palermo and the Center for Sustainability and Ecological Transition, was held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. The event began inside the Chiaramonte-Steri palace complex, in the former church of Sant'Antonio Abate, and then moved to the Sala Lanza of the Botanical Garden of the University of Palermo. During the event, the various partners presented the planned work and the objectives to be achieved.

The project involves several research groups from the University, together with national and international companies, with the aim of demonstrating how the various nuances of sustainability can synergistically contribute to the success of new production processes.

In about 4.5 years, a new circular economy approach for the production of magnesium minerals will be brought from academia to the market, maximizing benefits for humans and the environment.
